everything can be magical if you let it be. i remember the first time seeing red-winged blackbirds i was just…enthralled. i watched them for maybe an hour. i thought they made the sweetest noises and were just so pretty. and i found out later on that people consider them nuisances and pests. they’re literally common all over the united states but because they weren’t familiar to me they weren’t a burden or an annoyance but something beautiful. if we don’t let other people tell us how to feel about things, maybe we can just like things for what they are

this is a hotter, deeper take than i ever expected to see from this blog, but you’re so fucking right and i think this is a good ass post and a sentiment everyone should at least think about

for a quick change of pace–i know we’ve all seen a thousand posts about voting, but what i haven’t seen (not yet) is one saying thank you.

thank you for those who made it out in the rain and the cold, who organized and canvassed and took on the onerous task of working with non-voting & conservative friends/family to change their stance if at least just this once. thank you for those who stood in line for hours, who had to travel because your voting place was moved, who had to jump through ridiculous fucking hoops to register, who weren’t inspired but showed up anyway for the disenfranchised and the greater good. thank you as well to everyone who voted early, absentee, and provisional.

it mattered.

i don’t remember when i started sharing so many more positive posts, id say i didnt even notice but i have been putting a lot of energy into recovering…i guess that just kind of bled through to the content i post on here too!

to-do list: november

  • control your environment. surround yourself with the kindest people, with the calmest music, with the softest clothes. make yourself comfortable. the world will not always do it for you.
  • be as independent as you possibly can, but do not fear reaching for help. you are constantly growing and improving, don’t let your obsession with autonomy hinder you from becoming a better version of yourself.
  • set your priorities straight. there are things you want to do, and there are things you need to do, and there are things you need to do in order to do the things you want to do. do them first.
  • believe in your abilities. believe in your aspirations, your reasons, and your hopes. hold on to your motivation as much as possible. everyone needs time, but many forget that they need their own strength as well.
  • be overwhelmed. make mistakes. be thoroughly done with everything. notice how you change during your low points in life. notice how you plant a seed in your mind, something that will bloom. take care of it. you will grow and flourish soon enough.
